Education is the foundation of every individual’s future, and the quality of education they receive can make a significant impact on their success in life. Principal Alean King understands this well, and she is dedicated to providing students with the best education possible at Detroit Lions Academy (D.L.A.). As the parent of a child in Detroit Public Schools Community District, she knows firsthand the importance of a strong home-school partnership and believes that by working together, each student’s academic, social, and emotional needs can be met.
D.L.A. is an Alternative Middle School with a unique program that provides over-age students with a second chance to succeed and reach high school graduation. The school offers a supportive academic and social environment where students can thrive. The program features smaller classroom sizes to deliver individualized or small group instruction, ensuring that each student’s unique needs are met. D.L.A. also participates in the district’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) program to improve and encourage positive behaviors and academic outcomes.
